In addition to leading strength and bootcamp classes, Coach Dan is Burg's kickboxing and self-defense instructor. His programs help build confidence, self-esteem, strength and empowerment by learning how to react if placed in a threatening situation.
Dan earned his 2nd-Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo Karate and Self-Defense in 2005, and became a Certified Instructor of the American Taekwondo Association in 2006. He has over 10 years experience teaching Taekwondo. His experience as an instructor of martial arts and self-defense has allowed him to inspire his students to reach goals that they may not have thought possible.
Dan's competitive spirit began with his passion for martial arts and soccer as a teenager. He has represented the United States Soccer Team in the Maccabiah Games in Israel. He also trained for a full season with West Ham United of the English Premiere League.

I have a true passion and desire to help people be as happy and healthy as possible. I believe that this generally happens from the inside out. Helping individuals discover a confidence and direction they never thought possible is my passion. Losing weight, gaining muscle and building strength is just one part of the equation. Through scientific practice and real world training experience, I have the knowledge and understanding to help people improve flexibility, strength, endurance and practical movement at a pace where they see real progress.
I’ve personally been through major injuries serving in the military and am a type 1 diabetic. I have the experience to train the extreme athlete to the extreme sedentary person.
Steve’s fitness career started during his time in the U.S. Army Special Forces, when he trained his teams using CrossFit-like methods. Steve carried that cutting-edge training style into his post-military career. He threw himself into training for triathlons, duathlons, and adventure races, completing his first Marine Corps-sponsored “mud run” in 1988. Steve also completed the 1999 Empire State Building Run-Up in a blistering 17 minutes. But after all that running, he was ready to find a new way to test his fitness.
When he’s not spending time with his wife and two boys, Steve is often found furthering his health education with new certifications and reading the latest athletic research. Right now Steve is enrolled in the Bauman College Nutrition Consultant program. Steve is known for his passion for nutrition, Olympic Weightlifting, coaching masters, and giving brand-new clients the keys for achieving elite fitness!
